The Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in schools at Leeds Beckett University conducted a survey in December 2017 which was completed by more than 700 teachers. The data show that the majority of teachers have experienced a mental health need and that poor teacher mental health can have a detrimental affect on pupil mental health, pupil progress, the quality of teaching and the quality of the relationships that teachers establish with pupils and colleagues. The research demonstrates that the causes of poor teacher mental health are multi-faceted and include factors such as: teacher workload; changing demands to the curriculum; changes to assessment approaches in school; excessive monitoring of teacher performance and excessive surveillance from other teachers. Project, coordinated by the Authority for Working Conditions (ACT), Portugal, at the INTERNATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY CONGRESS (IOHSC2017), invited by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Occupational Health and Safety Department, 6 – 7 December 2017” in Istanbul, Turkey. This communication focuses on MS-SM project which integrates strategic partnerships to establish a collaborative and networked practice to study and propose innovative practices and materials for the teaching of occupational health and safety concepts, thus fostering a risk perception in the young people of school age and contributing to the creation of a safety culture. The absence of workplace accidents occurs in companies where safety is a core nuclear value, meaning a value that translates into consistency between decisions, policies, resource distribution and organizational practices, where productivity never threatens safety. Therefore, with this project we intend to awaken our conscience and set out a path for the implementation of a safety culture that is expected, in the medium and long term, to be reflected in the reduction of occupational accidents and diseases in Europe and particularly in Portugal. In conclusion, this conference provided the participants with a successful exchange of experiences and good practices in various contexts, whether professional or scholar. We are glad to welcome a new institutional member, as well as a new individual member, to the ENETOSH network which now has 87 members from 36 countries.| Bild:| The Faculty of Safety Engineering is the youngest faculty of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. The Faculty was established in 2002 in response to the growing demand of practice for highly educated professionals in the area of safety engineering and for related scientific research activities. The establishment of the new faculty represented a continuation of a long-term process of development in scientific research activities and fields of study oriented towards safety and fire protection at VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava. Graduates can take positions as members of fire protection services, designers, safety and security engineers in various organizations, and others. After gaining adequate practical experience and authorization, many graduates can find jobs in the private sector as well. Pravinkumar D. Ukhlikar, Vice-Principal of the Governmental Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Latur, Maharastra, India, conducted a OSH training session on 15 November 2017 at the ITI with almost 300 participants. The participants were VET institutional staff, students, local industry personnel and university graduates. Aim of the session was to sensitize participants on OSH training. Ukhlikar also took this opportunity to introduce the ENETOSH network and its activities to the participants. We look forward to more OSH experts being active in our network.
